Upgrade voucher FAQ
How do I earn a Virgin Atlantic upgrade voucher?
Virgin Atlantic Flying Club members earn an upgrade (Reward) voucher on reaching certain tier levels — a Red member typically earns a 75,000-point voucher and a Silver or Gold member a 150,000-point voucher — based on the tier points collected over a membership year. Check your Flying Club account for the exact terms that apply to you.
What can the voucher be used for?
The voucher discounts the points cost of upgrading a reward booking to a higher cabin — for example Economy to Premium, or Premium to Upper Class — up to the voucher's point value. This calculator estimates how far your voucher goes toward that upgrade on a given date and route.
Will there be other costs when I upgrade?
Usually yes. Moving to a higher cabin normally increases the taxes, fees and carrier charges payable in cash, and any points above the voucher's value must be covered from your own balance. Confirm the full cost with Virgin Atlantic before you redeem.
How do I book an upgrade with a voucher?
Upgrade vouchers generally can't be applied online for every itinerary, so you may need to call the Virgin Atlantic Flying Club team to apply the voucher to an existing or new reward booking. Have your booking reference and membership number ready.
Can I use the voucher for someone else?
Vouchers are tied to your Flying Club account, but reward bookings can typically include other passengers. Rules on who can travel and whether the voucher can be applied to a companion vary, so check the current voucher terms in your account.
Do upgrade vouchers expire?
Yes — upgrade vouchers carry an expiry date set when they are issued. Make sure your travel (or in some cases, the booking) falls within the validity window shown on the voucher in your Flying Club account.
